Potters Resort Five Lakes: A Taster Trip to Remember

We recently had the opportunity to experience a 2 day taster stay at Potters Resort Five Lakes in Colchester.  For those new to or have never heard of Potters Resort Five lakes they are the Uk’s only all inclusive full board short breaks establishment for Adults. They have weekday Monday – Friday (Quieter) and 3 day weekend Friday to Monday stays- (expect a few hen parties). I took my husband with me but if booking groups you can opt for the twin beds option.

The brochures or  videos cannot prepare you enough this is one place you need to experience yourself.  As we drove into the resort the hustle  and bustle of everyday life seemed to melt away, replaced by the tranquil sounds of nature, greenery and the warm welcome of the resort staff. It was a rainy weekend but we could still see and experience the beautiful lakes, landscapes and crisp air.

So a quick highlight of our stay

*Arrival parking is plentiful and free for guests.

*Check in – we arrived a bit late for the resort tour but our room keys were ready and we were handed these with a resort pack with info and programme for that week

*Our room was spacious, tea coffee facilities a lovely boxed gift of biscuits, branded coasters and note book.

* You are allocated a table no in your welcome pack which you will use during your stay for breakfast, lunch, dinner with the same waiter or waitress this adds a personal touch.

*We enjoyed a sumptuous 3-course dinner first evening, On another day, we choose the buffet spread for lunch and dinner. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. At midnight or after the main show you can grab a midnight snack on at the Eden bar.

*Drinks were readily available and 2 open bars during the day in the main hall and the quiet common area

*Despite the rainy weather, the indoor activities like mini golf, Bingo, Card & Board Games, Quizzes, Snooker, Pool Tables, Darts
Disc Golf, Shuffleboard, Silly Games kept us thoroughly entertained. Although the rain kept us from enjoying the outdoor games, it didn’t dampen our spirits.

* Other Leisure options were Swimming Pool, Sauna & Steam Rooms, jacuzzi was out of service during our stay, The Spa and pool facilities provided the perfect relaxation and were not too crowded.

*Night-time is a highlight of any stay at Potters. The vibrant night entertainment included live performances that captivated the audience, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere. The nights started in the main auditorium with bingo – no filming or cameras allowed  but the shows were a blast. These were a mixture of west end acts, jokes, singing and dancing, afterwards after the main show in the main theatre completed the night continued by the smaller stage next to the bar with karaoke and guests showcasing their singing talents and enjoying the camaraderie.

The staff were incredibly welcoming, all polite and absolutely seem to enjoy their jobs, this is one resort where you cannot fault any of the staff, from the room service, the cleaners, the bar area, reception, pool all of the staff are an absolute asset to the company.

This resort is truly a hidden gem in the UK and I would highly recommend a group/couple/ birthday short break there.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience despite us not being able to enjoy the outside activities due to the weather. Our group’s calendar for 2024  was mid-full but Nikki in group sales is already working on a group package for us this 2024 , but we have eagerly added Potters Resort to our 2025 plans.

Thank you to the entire Potters team for making our stay so memorable!” definitely a fit for our group.
